Andean Region: Heritage
The Andean Region Heritage, a photographic exhibition
The Andes is a magnificent skirt that includes the Colombian mountainous range and extends throughout the American continent. It is also a bridge that connects multiple communities and their cultural practices inspired by the low temperatures, the moor and the extraordinary heights. The astonishing continental structure of the Andes encompasses a multiplicity of people, natural elements and mineral treasures yet to be discovered.
This section presents a space for dialogue between different Andean systems of knowledge within Colombia, in the quest to find commonalities and mutual respect, and start intertwining communities through empathy, in a celebration of plurality as the ultimate wealth of our humanity.

So many ways to interwave life:
In the Andean Region we take the cold and the mountain range as crucial elements, they can be thought of in parallel to the different fabrics of the ruanas and the traditional skirts. The mountain range is like a skirt that protects us, gives us identity and makes up the geography of the female body too. We decided to build a story about women in the Andean region and “the different ways of weaving”, both fabrics and communities; ways to interconnect, involving our meals, the dances and the myths that we continue to explore and sustain.
The colourful fabrics of the inhabitants of the Andes, serve to keep them warm, but they are also evidence of the endless shapes and patterns that constitute their diversity. There is in place another intersecting layer, the social fabric within the communities, that continue to display their bodily knowledge in their dances, their music, their medicine and their gastronomy
