Pacific Region: Interculturality
When children take the initiative and dance becomes something beyond heritage
Abstract of the ethnographic research that explored two cases of use and transmission of dance heritage: children and young people from the École de Musique Associative Les Brayauds, in Auvergne (France), and those from the Brisas del Cauca Neighbourhood (Colombia). For which, an experimental methodological approach was proposed for children to become the teachers of their own dance heritage.
“PACIFIC FLAVORS: Brisas del Cauca Neighbourhood, Cali”: Museum Bodies for Empathy. 2019
Memoirs of the final exhibition of the “Museum Bodies for Empathy” training process, which took place in the surroundings of the school of the Brisas del Cauca Neighbourhood. The children gave life to the corroded walls with ornaments, garlands, postcards telling the sonic history of their neighbourhood, portraits and large-scale pictures of the Living Painting “Pacific Flavors”, which celebrated their feelings of what it means to be Afro-Colombian in this neglected territory of the country.
