Cultural Journey for Peace is an innovative peace education model based on an intercultural exchange program, which empowers youth stakeholders and communities offering skills to be leaders and promoters of a culture of peace, inclusion, and sustainability.
This online platform is conceived as a virtual museum that aims to recollect the lived experience, bring visibility to peace education and cultural heritage contents, and create a base for dialogue and exchange among youth from different countries.
During Autumn 2023 ICU Tokyo hosted three international experts from Colombia, India, and Italy to conduct a training program in Peacebuilding through Arts, Sports, and Culture.
The program moved along two lines of action: a) the transmission of values, skills and experiences to empower more aware and active citizens; b) the creation of spaces for an horizontal exchange of cultural practices. Indeed, the participants not only received worthwhile knowledge and tools, but also were invited to share insights from their own cultures and life experiences, boosting both a sense of belonging and the acknowledgement of their role in building bridges between diversities.
The program consisted in four modules:
1- Intangible Cultural Heritage and Peacemaking
2- Inclusion through International Sports and Games
3- Ecosomatics for Ecological Awareness
4 – Living Pictures for Peace
