Harmony: Japanese Living Picture for Peace
Harmony” for me.
It is the connection between individuals across countries and generations, the connection between people and nature, and the connection between all living things (people, animals, insects, etc.) and the universe.
When I look at these connections in the big picture, I can see a big circle.
I felt that the traditions and culture that spilled over from the soul of the Japanese people remain strong in the Japanese people of today, and that even greater harmony can be created by sharing these traditions and culture with people of other cultures.
In a word, I believe that “harmony” is “respect”.

Japanese people place great emphasis on teamwork when playing team sports. I think harmony is that we all come together and cooperate. In Japan it has been said for a long time that it is good for everyone to get along when doing something.
I think harmony expresses the nature of Japanese people well. ( Miho)

Harmony, “wa” in Japanese, is one of the words Japanese people love. It means peaceful relationships and cooperation among people.
It does not usually mean the relation between humans and nature. But we could extend the meaning to it. We pay respect and gratitude to nature. Nature is great. It let us exist in it. We humans are part of nature. We should have harmony with nature, should not confront it.
Harmony means good relationships between you and all the surroundings including other people, society and nature.
That what I think. (Nobby)
I think that harmony between humans is born from sharing each other’s thoughts, being moved by each other, and being close to each other. (Chii)
